Step-by-Step Guide to Setting up Sohu IMAP, POP, and SMTP Settings

To set up an email client like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail to access your Sohu email account using IMAP, POP, or SMTP protocols, you’ll need the following information:

IMAP server: imap.sohu.com IMAP port: 993 IMAP SSL/TLS: Yes

POP server: pop.sohu.com POP port: 995 POP SSL/TLS: Yes

SMTP server: smtp.sohu.com SMTP port: 465 SMTP SSL/TLS: Yes

Here’s how to use these settings to set up your Sohu email account in a client like Microsoft Outlook:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook and go to File > Add Account.
  2. Select “Manual setup or additional server types” and click Next.
  3. Select “POP or IMAP” and click Next.
  4. Enter your name, Sohu email address, and password, and then click More Settings.
  5. In the Internet Email Settings window, go to the Outgoing Server tab.
  6. Check the box next to “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” and select “Use same settings as my incoming mail server.”
  7. Go to the Advanced tab and enter the following settings:
  • For IMAP:
    • Incoming server (IMAP): 993
    • Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL/TLS
  • For POP:
    • Incoming server (POP3): 995
    • Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
    • Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL/TLS
  1. Click OK and then click Next to test the account settings and complete the setup process.
